"Mother"

"Sister"
"Daughter"
These represent the "Weeping Chorus" of those left behind to mourn the chaos when someone is incarcerated. I tried to refer to the aspects of the windows in Cellblock 9--where each cell has a prisoner and an ornamental window. In these windows the ornamental design has moved into the space with the figure.
Why women? Well mainly because most prisoners are men. I wanted to avoid the romantic relationship, hence mother, sister and daughter but the sister seems to have snuck into that territory on her own!
Thes windows are in Cellblock 14.
These are so fantabulous!! Truely truely!! you are amazing!
ReplyDeleteStunningly profound and beautiful!
ReplyDeletethanks so much!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your work!
ReplyDeleteI really love that sculptural crispness on Sister's face, cheekbone especially.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever use resists when you sandblast, or are you just(!) a wizard with the blaster?
Edwina--
ReplyDeleteit is mostly done with a diamond file. The sandblaster just can't get that kind of finesse as you point out!!!
Well a diamond file certainly sounds like a good time!
ReplyDeleteIt somehow connects the concept and the meaning of the images.
ReplyDeleteI certainly will attempt to make it to the upcoming group walk with you a few weeks from now!! Thanks for getting that into your date book!
ReplyDeleteI really like this sculpture crispness in younger sister's face, zygomatic especially.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever use a resistance when you sand, or you just (!) A guide to the recorder?
